Rebecca Warren
Rebecca is a PhD candidate at UNSW researching how to best support cancer caregivers while in the caregiving role. Many caregivers can become stressed, overwhelmed and burnt out as they juggle their caregiving responsibilities and own lives. She has designed a nutrition focused health-coaching intervention to help caregivers stay well during the process. In her talk she will present simple tips and tricks to help caregivers stay in tip-top health!
Tineke Rietveld
Tineke, our in-house senior oncology massage therapist with over 10 years of experience will be talking about the benefits of therapeutic touch. Touch therapy enhances feelings of peace, security as well as relaxation, and assists to reduce worry, anxiety and fatigue. Friends and family often work tirelessly to provide ongoing physical and emotional care for their loved one. This can take a toll on otherwise positive and healthy relationships. Feelings of connectedness and wellbeing between a patient and their carer can be strengthened through therapeutic touch and Tineke will demonstrate some easy to apply techniques.
Joanne Sullivan
Jo is an experienced psychotherapist providing holistic, inclusive and trauma-informed counselling. She will talk about the importance of connecting to self and the awareness of our bodies in order to maintain our own wellbeing as we care for others.
