Come as you are, leave feeling better
Massage Therapy
Our clinic offers three types of massage therapies. We can assist you to find out which one benefits you the most.
Oncology Massage
Oncology massage is designed for people with a cancer history. It is a very gentle form of massage to soften the muscles and tissues, relieving aches and pains. It is deeply relaxing due to its gentle and slow strokes. For more information on oncology massage please read our blog here.
Remedial Massage
Remedial massage applies more pressure to address the deeper tissues of the body. It is used for treatment of the muscles, tendons, ligaments and connective tissues to assist with your rehabilitation, pain and injury management.
Lymphatic Massage
Lymphatic massage or manual lymphatic drainage massage is a gentle and rhythmical massage technique to assist with your lymphatic fluid transport. It is of great value for patients who had a disruption to their lymphatic system in the form of lymph node removal and or radiotherapy. It helps to reduce swelling and to improve tissue health.
FAQ's
Do I need a referral to see a massage therapist?
No, you don’t. However, especially if you are undergoing active treatment such as chemotherapy, we may liaise with your medical team to ensure massage therapy is safe to implement.
Please refer to our Terms and Conditions for more information.
What to expect at my first massage therapy appointment?
At your initial session, your massage therapist will go through your medical history to ensure that the appropriate massage technique will be chosen for you. You will be asked about your symptoms that you would like addressed.
Most massage techniques will be performed directly on the skin, therefore you will be required to remove some of your clothing. Some massage techniques will be performed using oil. Your therapist will prepare you for this and explain what this will involves. Please inform your therapist if you don’t want oil to be administered to your skin.
How do I know which type of massage is most suitable for me?
As part of your initial assessment, your massage therapist will make recommendations based on your symptoms and your goals. You can learn about the different massage techniques and their uses here > Physiotherapy and Massage in Cancer Care.
It’s time to manage those symptoms and side effects
Your cancer treatment can leave you with unwanted symptoms and side effects that can often be eliminated or reduced with the right treatment and support.
